[It's just text, but there's some relief that floods through him. The two of them hadn't exactly been friends there, but they were comrades. Some odd consistency in it all. The difference was that Castiel's conscience was more pronounced, and Sam was caught in one of his typical hamster-wheel-style life choices. Alternate life choices. It makes sense that it happened, but—it is what it is.
The odd (and hard) part is the realization of "those guys who were on the screen" being people he really truly loves and cares about.
Oh, and everything else involved.
(Destiel.)]
No death. At least, I don't think so. [Usually there is a death, and ... well ... it happens, so he doesn't fault him for it.]
I had a message waiting for me when I got back, so we've touched base.
[Unspoken: they have not hugged or been glad to have each other back in their lives because of ... stuff.]
[ the others have come back after dying, so far as cas knows at this point, so that's interesting news. castiel's packing up his things at work and preparing to return to the apartment. he'd been hoping he could catch sam when he woke up, but it figures he'd be out when it actually happens. ]
I'm glad you're back safe. The city's still somewhat in chaos, be careful if you go outside. I'll be home in roughly twenty minutes.
[ since dean isn't with him, he'll take one of the flying public transports. they're faster. ]
Got it. I'm willing to bet it's gonna be that way for a while. Glossy-eyed barista types. Or, well, the equivalent. I'll have to check on the tipping culture here.
[Is there a tipping culture? Sam knows that was mostly a European thing. But—well. Yeah.]
I'll sit tight. We should compare notes on the whole returning process. I'm willing to bet there's something there.
